Enabling Better Aged and Community Care for Forgotten Australians National Forum

The RDA Logan and Redlands was pleased to both sponsor and attend the Enabling Better Aged and Community Care for Forgotten Australians National Forum that was held on Monday 4th of April 2022.

The National Forum was part of activities for the International Care Experienced History Month throwing the spotlight on the needs of Forgotten Australians as they age. Forgotten Australians are those whoas children, were raised in orphanages, Children's Homes, institutions or other forms of out-of-home care.

The National Forum was a hybrid event that brought together Forgotten Australians, service providers and researchers from Australia and around the world. The Forum aimed to highlight what the future could hold for quality and targeted aged and community care for Forgotten Australians and other Care Leavers. Discussions focused on how to improve access to care, the appropriateness of care and the quality of support and care that is currently available for Forgotten Australians.

The outcomes from this incredible event were numerous including supporting improvements in a range of structural and funding arrangements as well as spotlighting the unique needs of this large group of older Australians.
