Postponement of the Rotary Multi-District Membership Conference – 26 August 2017
Message to Rotary//
My Fellow Rotarians,
With less than 50 registrations to this year’s Multi-District Membership Conference less than 5 days out, a decision has been made to postpone this event until later in the Rotary year.
With a break-even number at the 110 number of registrations, the decision to postpone is the right decision for all concerned.
Our sponsors are anticipating much larger numbers for their support and equally for those attending, the quality of conversation and group learning would not be generated below a reasonable number in the audience.
Our hope and belief must remain resilient that this low response rate reflects conflicting priorities and perhaps a lower appreciation for us to focus on Membership in our clubs.
Relevance, recruitment and retention are at the very heart of our survival and option to thrive as a humanitarian organisation serving our communities: Locally; Nationally; Internationally.
This conference, its speakers, design and your contribution through attendance and active participation is valuable and warrants the numbers to ensure its impact and success.
We will be working with the District Leadership team in all three districts to select a date with no conflicting events and with ample notice to enable a good attendance.
We apologise for this late notice of postponement and hope that you understand and agree with the rationale behind the decision.
Despite being postponed, special thanks must be extended to Nicole Wilson (9630), Andy Rajapakse (9640), Mariae Leckie (CEO –Regional Development Australia) and Georgie Gould (Marketing & Events Manager - Regional Development Australia) for their tireless work in the organisation of this conference. There efforts are to be commended.
Thank you for your understanding and patience.
Yours in Rotary Service
Tim Keeler – District Chair 9630 Membership
